27 March 2008

Hello all...

Sexy tea cups indeed (I get an image of Madonna...tea cups...a lot of glue...)

We've also got chairs. Many, many plastic moulded chairs that look like they started life in an elementary school classroom. They were rustled from a field near Calgary by a friend who thought we could use them. Turns out we can't.

With regard to Fireside tomorrow night. Looks like I'm going to be facilitating. The topic will be "What I know about the Shamanic Path".

Fireside of April 11...Dezi has kindly offered to do a recap of her Pagan Pathways lecture about Estate Planning for Pagans.

April 25 will be, as mentioned before, Rick Carr.

We have nobody yet scheduled for either of the Firesides in May...

In other news...the long awaited essential oil shipment is finally on its way. Expected arrival is next Tuesday April 1st. Once again we will have lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, and a variety of the other, really cool, oils that we've been lacking for the last little while.

Related to that, due to popular demand, we will be resurrecting the bath salts. Look for them in their new package. Expected relaunch should be in time for Mother's Day...

Also...for sale there will be a disturbing number of teacups.

Boxes full of them - all different. Unearthed from the far back storage room

Old ones, new ones, white ones, blue ones...they could be valuable. Or not.

All I know is that I think someone had a teacup fetish.

Hello all...

Just a few quick updates with regard to some of the items in the sale (last weekend of April)...

We have a cash register (you may recall the one we were using until 1 Nov 07). It's in fine shape - we're just not using it now because we've gone computerized. It's worth about $600 brand new. We're asking $200 and it comes with 57 rolls of till tape, the manual and all the keys.

Also up on the block is a display rack with moveable hooks. About five feet tall, spins if I recall. We're asking $35.

I've also got a Telus Mobility Mike phone with two chargers and assorted stuff. $20 will take it.

I'm going to see about posting some pictures here.

There's a *lot* more - it's a lot to think about and frankly it's such a nice day that I think I'm going to take Fred out instead. Enjoy the long weekend!

Happy Ostara! Well, almost...

A quick note to say that we *will* be open regular hours on Friday...and throughout the weekend.

17 March 2008

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Golly...I had no idea a whole month had passed since I last posted to this blog!

Things got very busy for me and the store...

Rasa was away in Uruguay for all of January and February.
Charlene and the store parted company in February (it was a friendly parting of ways for a variety of reasons I won't bore you with here)...

The end result was that things got rather interesting and complicated for me.

But...Rasa's back (yaaaay) and rested from her time in the Uruguayan sunshine and is eagerly back to work. I vow never, ever again to take for granted the ability to take two whole days off...in a row!

So what's new?

Well, we had a most excellent Fireside Chat last Friday. Lee graciously offered to facilitate and the topic was "Things that go bump in the night". Sorry, again, Lee that I didn't get this posted *before* the Chat happened. That being said, people appeared to really enjoy Lee's talk (I believe the word "spellbound" was used at one point to describe the audience). So again, thank you very much to Lee for taking the time and effort to bring such a good topic to the table.

My extreme gratitude to Ta...I mean Ambyr, who stepped up and was able to share her knowledge of dreamcatchers February 22 and pull the Fireside from, I guess, the fire when the scheduled facilitator was unable to come due to a family emergency.

Anyway....

We have lots of new and exciting things going on.

The March 28 Fireside looks like it will be a quiet one due to the fact that a number of other things are happening that day out in the world. We are still looking for a facilitator for that one, as well as for the April 11th Fireside. Call me if you want to volunteer.

April 25th's Fireside will be hosted by Rick Carr, a well-learned man who will be discussing, among other things, wands, staves, and pennanular brooches. Should be interesting.

An announcement Ed and I made at the last Fireside drew a lot of boos and unhappy noises, however, we do think this is for the best. Fireside Chats will be put on hiatus for the summer season (June, July and August). The reasoning for this is that summer is a really busy time for people - there are many events happening in the community.

Also, have you *been* in our back room during the hot season? It's freaking unbearable.

And finally, we are not exactly awash in people who are willing to volunteer to facilitate (hint hint)...

In other news...

We are going to have our First Annual Pre-Inventory Blow Out sale on the weekend of April 26-27. Just about everthing in the store will be on sale. Some items are going to be *deeply* discounted. I will be posting periodically a few of the stranger things that are to be included in sale.

I'm also toying with the idea of having a kind of garage sale in the back room that weekend as well (NO I **DON'T** WANT ANY OF YOUR STUFF TO SELL TOO. I'M SERIOUS!). I've still got boxes of other people's stuff in my garage from past sales.

Anyway, that's all the news that's fit to print...
