12 April 2008

Hello all...

I want to start by saying *thank you* to Dezi Farruga from World Financial Group for coming in to Fireside last night and giving us a wealth of information about wills and estate planning. What she said was valuable and, quite frankly, a lot of it scared the poop out of me. The bottom line of what she said was: if you don't have a will, do one. It's not hard and will save your partner/spouse/heirs, etc. a world of hurt...

Other news...

I've decided to do part of the garage sale on the weekend of April 26-27 as a silent auction with the funds going to Fred's lump removal.

Included in this auction (which will open the night of Fireside on April 25 and close at 4:30 pm on Sunday) is a large number of books including:
Be a Goddess by Francesca De Grandis
Remembering and Understanding Your Dreams by Craig Hamilton-Parker
10 Anniversary Ed. of Spiral Dance by Starhawk
The Illustrated Dream Dictionary by Russell Grant
The Indian Luck Book by Monisha Bharadwaj
The Book of Spells by Nicola de Pulford (out of print as far as I know)
Llewellyn's 2004 Magical Almanac
Magical Aromatherapy by Scott Cunningham
The Wiccan Handbook by Susan Bowes
Practical Candleburning Rituals by Raymond Buckland
The Little Book of Hexes for Women by Sophia (I'm not sure this one is serious or tongue in cheek)
Candlelight Spells by Gernia Dunwich
Secrets of Modern Witchcraft Revealed by Lady Sabrina
The Ultimate Book of Spells by Natasha Nevin
Power Spells by Lexa Rosean
Traditional Herbal Remedies by Jenny Plucknett
Llewellyn's 2004 Herbal Almanac
The Only Wiccan Spellbook you'll ever need by Marian Singer and Trish MacGregor
Gypsy Fortunes Oracle Deck set by Lady Lorelei
Wiccan Spell a Day by Sirona Knight
The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall

Our heartiest thanks to Rita who donated all of the above (except the Crystal Bible). Rita takes care of her books and they are all in excellent shape. The Crystal Bible, however, appears to have suffered an unfortunate incident at the distributor's (it looks like it fell from a height or was pitched at a concrete floor) and is slightly crushed on the bottom outside back edge (it's still very readable).

Also with regard to Crystal Bibles...we got a shipment of ever-so-slightly water damaged stock. The pages are *not* stuck together and other than very minor staining they are in excellent shape. We're offering them for $19.99 but you have to ask for them (let's see how many people actually read the blog...) because due to space concerns they're being stored on my desk.

Whew. This is a lot of typing.

So the Congregationalist Wicca Assembly of Alberta meets here tonight (April 12) at 6 pm.
Everyone is welcome to come. There is no charge, however, they ask you bring some kind of potluck item. Financial donations are, of course, also welcomed.

There will be a Pagan Services Association special resolution meeting in the back room on Sunday April 20 from 1 to 3 pm. The general public *is* invited to attend.

Oh...and our phones are working again. So call us if you like...
