I hope everyone had a happy Imbolc. The weather, at least here in Edmonton anyway, certainly cooperated and we've been enjoying a veritable February heatwave (liquid snow all over the ground!)
Much like Imbolc is a celebration of the earliest stirrings of life in the new season, we here at Where Faeries Live are engaging in all kinds of planning for the new year.
The biggest thing we're working on is the third annual Sun Wheel Pagan Arts Festival (www.sunwheelfestival.com).
What is Sun Wheel? For anyone who hasn't heard about it yet, Sun Wheel is a celebration of Pagan music, as well as other creative Pagan oriented activities.
For the last couple of years, we held it out on private land northwest of Edmonton. This year, however, we decided we needed to move to a larger venue and as a result have secured a location out in the foothills near Drayton Valley, AB.
Although I can't mention any of the musical acts (yet...) I can tell you that last year we were blessed with the talents of S.J. Tucker, Mojo and Sparrow, Raven's Call and others. This year we're hoping to add even more talent to the mix. Again, stay tuned...
Last year we also had an actual, take-off-your-shoes-and-walk-the-coals firewalk (that everyone was invited to participate in, though only the bravest souls did!) as well as some extraordinary firespinning!
There will also be rituals, drumming, and workshops and lectures. If YOU have a a workshop you'd like to present, please by all means get in touch with us (info@sunwheelfestival.com or by calling Ed at Where Faeries Live 780-454-0187). Already slated to run is a nature walk (run by yours truly) but there's space for so much more!
We are also currently accepting vendor applications with a preference for Pagan oriented, hand crafted wares. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to Chris at the above e-mail address.
This festival truly is Pagan camping at its finest - a laid back event in rustic surroundings. Come, hang out, meet some new people, learn some new stuff, and hear some really great music.
Does it get much better than this?
