Crappy luck...no. I'm certain this was a planned job. In retrospect all the signs were there. What's embarassing is, looking back at the camera footage, just how clumsy a job it was. But it worked. And that's all that matters.
And, if this follows the pattern of the last time we were jacked (for the Food Bank donation jar back in the spring), they'll be back again. Smart people, or people capable of connecting the dots or who don't vastly underestimate those around them, don't tend to commit petty crimes like this.
And now, because of this, we're going to have to add one more layer of security. Coming soon to a friendly Pagan store near you: an RFID tag sensor/alarm system. Honest people have nothing to fear from it. And had we had it today we could have at least had an inkling that something was up and possibly gotten the geode back before it got too far away (it's pretty hard to run with a twenty pound rock in your knapsack).
But it really really sucks sending that message of distrust out to everyone because a few a#$*les have decided to make a buck at our expense.
What next? I have no idea but this whole thing just makes me so very sad.
